EPLAN opts for global rollout of its data portal in the Azure cloud

EPLAN Software & Service GmbH & Co. KG’s EPLAN Data Portal is a web-based platform that provides standardized parts and engineering data to engineers worldwide. As demand grew and the platform—previously hosted on servers in Germany—was reaching its limits, EPLAN needed a fast, highly scalable cloud solution to support international expansion into Asia and the US while keeping its existing PHP application logic; it engaged Microsoft partner Noxum to plan and implement the migration to Azure.

Working with Noxum and Azure experts, EPLAN prototyped and migrated its LAMP implementation to Microsoft Azure, moving MySQL to Azure SQL, the document repository to Blob storage, and the web tier to IIS with PHP integration, with Azure CDN deployed for global delivery. The migration delivered central administration, rapid instance provisioning, global high availability and scalability, and minimal additional IT overhead—enabling improved performance for users and faster international growth.
