A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Crédito Agrícola, a century‑old Portuguese cooperative bank with 1.2 million customers and 700 locations, needed to give enterprise customers mobile access to services (including transaction authorizations) while cutting the cost and complexity of maintaining separate native apps and development teams for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
Partnering with Xpand IT, the bank built a cross‑platform enterprise app using Xamarin, Visual Studio/.NET and Azure, reusing more than 70% of the code, prototyping core features in about 10 days and delivering the first release in three months (with a second release two months later). The approach reduced development time and costs, consolidated teams, enabled push notifications and version management via Azure, and created a scalable mobile platform that improves user experience and serves as a model for other banks.
