A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Axpo, Switzerland’s largest producer of renewable energy, wanted to use real-time data to improve maintenance and efficiency at its hydroelectric plants. The company needed a way to centralize plant data in the cloud, make it easier to share across teams, and move from manual analysis to data-driven maintenance using Microsoft Azure.
Microsoft Azure helped Axpo build an IoT analytics solution with Azure IoT Edge, Azure IoT Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure SQL Database serverless. The result was rapid deployment at three hydro plants in three months, with about 60,000 signals and more than 20 million measurements ingested daily. Using Microsoft Azure, Axpo improved equipment performance, enabled condition-based maintenance, reduced downtime, and created a scalable platform it can extend to all 60 plants.
