Finanz Informatik (FI), the IT service provider for the Sparkassen‑Finanzgruppe, manages the OSPlus central banking platform and supports hundreds of banks, millions of accounts, and strict regulatory requirements (including 10‑year source‑code retention). As FI moved to expand OSPlus into a cloud‑based, omnichannel financial platform and harmonize architecture and processes, its legacy Subversion setup could not meet developer expectations for modern versioning, scalability, auditability, and high‑performance collaboration.

FI selected GitHub Enterprise (on‑prem) to provide a role‑based, scalable development platform that integrates with AD, backup, CI/CD and project‑management tools, and supports geo‑replication and continuous availability. The move streamlines workflows (issues, branches, pull requests), boosts developer productivity and onboarding, strengthens compliance and operational resilience, and helps attract talent; FI planned an initial rollout to 1,000 developers, expanding to 2,500 as part of its modernization program.
