Devon Energy uses Microsoft 365 to maximize productivity in a commodity business

Devon Energy, a large independent oil and gas producer based in Oklahoma City that produces roughly 250,000 barrels of oil and 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas daily, faced the challenge of operating extremely efficiently in a tight, commodity-driven market. With about 3,500 largely field-based employees, the company needed to get the right data to the right people quickly to support real-time drilling, repairs, approvals, and other decisions across remote sites.

Devon adopted a cloud-first strategy using Microsoft 365 Enterprise and Azure—including Windows 10, Office 365, EMS, Skype for Business, and Power BI—to enable secure, mobile access to data and collaboration tools. The result: faster time-to-productivity (in some cases reducing hours to minutes), widespread grassroots knowledge-sharing via video and SharePoint, democratized dashboarding with Power BI, better scalability and cost control through right-sizing in Azure, and IT positioned as a business enabler.
