Descartes MacroPoint real-time visibility platform migrates to Azure SQL Database to support growth and improve flexibility

Descartes, a logistics and supply chain solutions provider, needed more flexibility and scalability for its Descartes MacroPoint real-time visibility platform as customer demand grew and seasonal peaks strained resources. To reduce manual database management and free teams to focus on innovation, the company chose Microsoft Azure and moved the solution to Azure SQL Database Managed Instance.

Microsoft Azure implemented Azure SQL Database Managed Instance with the Business Critical tier, alongside Azure Service Fabric for orchestration and containerization, enabling a smooth migration with less than two hours of downtime. The move improved performance across the application, services, and website, and gave Descartes the ability to scale resources up or down quickly with no downtime after peak seasons; it also accelerated future Azure AI projects using Azure Machine Learning.
