Case Study: Derby City Council achieves £1.3m savings and scalable, reliable services with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Derby City Council Case Study

Derby Council harness the power of Azure

Derby City Council, which serves 244,000 residents, faced fresh Government budget cuts and an expiring outsourced IT contract. The council wanted to bring IT management in-house with a flexible, scalable compute model that would reduce costs and improve service continuity.

Working with Microsoft partner Risual, Derby implemented a hybrid cloud on Microsoft Azure, keeping critical services on-premises while moving over 60% of apps and services to the cloud. The project—delivered on time and on budget—is projected to save £1.3m over three years, while improving reliability, scalability and mobile working for staff.
