Case Study: Komprise achieves faster cloud migration and annual cost savings with Microsoft Azure

Data management newcomer lands strategic deals by working with Microsoft for Startups

A London-based global insurance brokerage and risk management company, using Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud platform, needed a low-risk way to migrate massive amounts of legacy file data and then tier cold data from remaining on-premises NetApp storage. With nearly all infrastructure moving to Azure, the customer wanted cost savings, cloud acceleration, and support for AI-driven products while managing a huge hybrid data footprint.

Microsoft Azure was paired with Komprise Elastic Data Migration and later Komprise Intelligent Data Management to move and tier data efficiently across Hitachi, Isilon, NetApp, and Azure Blob. The result was the migration of more than 1 PB of NAS data to Azure in under four weeks and annual savings of $550,000 in storage and backup costs, while also enabling nondisruptive access to tiered data and better handling of sensitive data in Azure.
