Daimler entrusts SAP HANA–based global procurement system to Microsoft Azure

Daimler needed to modernize its aging companywide procurement system, which managed more than 400,000 global suppliers and still relied on many manual, paper-based processes. To support faster innovation, the company turned to Microsoft Azure and a cloud-based procurement stack including SAP HANA/S/4HANA and the Icertis Contract Management platform.

Microsoft Azure enabled Daimler to deploy the new procurement system in just three months, with the hardware environment ready in 12 weeks. The solution can now be updated daily, scales on demand, and has reduced hardware costs by about 40% and IT operating costs by about 50%, while supporting procurement activity worth roughly €90 billion a year.
