Daimler embraces the cloud to innovate faster

Daimler AG, a global leader in premium cars and trucks, transformed itself into a software-driven company to support connected-vehicle services. The organization faced slow, complex developer onboarding and lengthy server provisioning in its datacenters, which hindered innovation and made it hard to share tools with external partners.

Daimler adopted Azure DevTest Labs and partnered with Microsoft Consulting Services to create Daimler DevCloud—a preconfigured, open-source–friendly development platform that bundles Azure VMs, Visual Studio Team Services, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and containers. The result: onboarding dropped from weeks to hours, about 700 developers are using the platform, teams can prototype and deploy faster, and the company is accelerating time-to-market and attracting top software talent.
