BookedOut is a Chicago-based startup that runs a marketplace connecting freelance event staff with advertising, marketing and experiential agencies. It set out to solve a highly manual, paper-and-phone-driven hiring and management process that made staffing millions of annual event hours inefficient and hard to scale.

BookedOut built its mobile front end and backend on Microsoft Azure with Visual Studio Online and the .NET Framework, cutting costs and accelerating development—about $250,000 saved and a roughly 30% faster development cycle—while quickly serving 40,000+ freelancers and hundreds of brands. The company is now exploring Azure Machine Learning and Power BI to mine millions of transactions for insights and add more value for enterprise clients.
