Case Study: Capita achieves faster developer productivity and higher satisfaction with Microsoft Azure and GitHub Copilot

Capita, a UK professional and business services company with 10,000+ employees, wanted to improve software development productivity and free developers from repetitive coding work. The company explored Microsoft Azure-related tools, especially GitHub Copilot, to help teams work faster, improve code quality, and support better developer satisfaction, recruitment, and retention.

Microsoft Azure and GitHub Copilot were implemented through a three-month proof of concept with 40 developers, supported by SharePoint, Teams, and Forms for training and feedback. The rollout expanded to 200+ users, and Capita reported productivity gains of 15% to 25% on more complex coding tasks, faster onboarding and “speed to competency,” and a more positive developer experience that is now part of business as usual.
