Complete Smart home solution based on Azure and Windows IoT core

MIFIMI Energy, a small Serbian company, launched AHIS to address a common smart‑home problem: most commercial systems force users to buy expensive new devices and raise security concerns. Targeting DIY consumers and small businesses, the startup needed an affordable, secure way to integrate existing appliances, provide remote monitoring across multiple platforms, and be simple enough for non‑technical users to install in about four hours.

AHIS used Microsoft BizSpark+ resources and built a hub on Raspberry Pi running Windows 10 IoT Core with a UWP app, backed by Azure (Service Fabric, SQL Database) for remote access and multi‑account scalability. The solution includes a two‑step encryption system, mobile UWP apps, and cloud services that enable remote control from PCs, tablets and phones; in pilot testing it serves 25+ users (including hotels), reduces energy bills, and proved flexible and scalable for broader deployment.
