Communications Agency Protects Client Communications with Cloud Encryption Solution

Waggener Edstrom (WE) is a global communications agency of about 700 employees that handles highly sensitive client information. The firm’s legacy Rights Management Services limited secure sharing to internal users and lacked mobile and cloud support—problems that grew as employees adopted smartphones and WE moved toward Office 365. Facing the prospect of maintaining two RMS infrastructures and losing interoperability with older protected files, WE needed a modern, easy-to-use way to protect documents and email across devices and external partners.

WE deployed Microsoft Azure Rights Management (Azure RMS) using the Azure RMS Migration Toolkit with local Microsoft support, rolling protection out to all employees in days rather than the 6–12 months an on-premises upgrade would have taken. Employees can now encrypt files and emails with a few clicks, open older RMS-protected documents, protect PDFs, and securely share with clients and mobile devices. The result: stronger, more flexible protection for client communications, lower operational overhead, faster deployment, and freed IT resources for strategic work.
