A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the College of Southern Nevada Case Study

College of Southern Nevada masters cybersecurity and the cloud for 47,700 students and staff with Microsoft Azure and Open Systems MDR+

The College of Southern Nevada, one of the largest community colleges in the U.S., needed to support a sudden surge in online learning while improving cybersecurity visibility and keeping costs predictable. With Microsoft Azure, the college also wanted to modernize its infrastructure and reduce pressure on an IT team stretched thin by rising threats and BYOD access across campuses and learning centers.

Microsoft Azure, working through Open Systems, helped CSN upgrade to Microsoft 365 A5 and use Azure Sentinel and Azure Active Directory, along with managed SASE+ and MDR+ services. The result was a 24x7 managed SOC, faster threat containment, and a move to cloud-based security and remote teaching support. CSN also reduced data center costs, saving thousands of dollars per month as it migrated systems to Microsoft Azure.
