Case Study: Red Sahara Studio achieves global reach and scalable game performance with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Red Sahara Studio Case Study

Cloud helps focus on gaming development without concerns of infrastructure and reach to global users

Red Sahara Studio, a Korea-based mid-size game developer best known for Immortal Warriors, needed a scalable, high-performance infrastructure to deliver a mobile game with desktop-level performance to global users. Faced with the complexity of running multiple regional instances (Korea and global versions of Immortal Warriors and Immortal Warriors 2) and the need for strong local support, the studio sought a cloud platform that would ensure performance, scalability and easy operations.

Red Sahara chose Microsoft Azure—using IaaS for global services, Notification Hubs for push messaging, and testing Azure Web App PaaS—to eliminate data center complexity, migrate data to a Korea region in about two hours, and simplify operations. The move cut server management overhead, freed developers to focus on game features, enabled efficient multi-region operations without specialized engineers, and set the studio up to add analytics and machine-learning capabilities with Azure services.
