Case Study: Cardio Diagnostics achieves 24/7 HIPAA-compliant remote heart monitoring with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Cardio Diagnostics Case Study

Cloud-based heart monitoring wearable beats strong and true thanks to Microsoft

CardioDiagnostics, a San Francisco–headquartered mHealth startup with an R&D lab in Beirut, developed LifeSense, a 3G/Wi‑Fi wearable that continuously monitors cardiac patients. Their challenge was to capture, transmit and store large volumes of sensitive, real‑time patient data globally while ensuring security, HIPAA compliance and the ability to scale so clinicians receive timely alerts.

They moved to Microsoft Azure PaaS—using Azure App Service, Azure IoT APIs, Visual Studio and BizSpark support—to build a secure, scalable cloud back end. The Azure solution enabled HIPAA‑compliant streaming and storage, real‑time clinician alerts, thousands of patients monitored across the US and Middle East, public recognition of the innovation, and leadership reports the shift to Azure has been a “game‑changer” that positions the company for rapid growth.
