ClearBank, a UK clearing bank launched in 2017, needed to scale quickly while building a secure, resilient cloud platform to process payments and satisfy regulatory concerns about cloud security. It turned to Microsoft Azure, using services like Azure Service Fabric and App Service Environment, to support rapid growth without the limits and cost of on-premises infrastructure.

Microsoft Azure helped ClearBank modernize to a microservices-based architecture and add tools for security, monitoring, automation, and reliable deployment. The results included 183% more monthly system releases, 100% uptime this year, five times more uptime than the year before, and the ability to process 20 million payments a month—most in under 3 seconds—without major refactoring.
