A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Câmara Municipal de Cascais, the municipal government serving 206,500 citizens on Portugal’s coast, needed to move from a paper-based, departmentalized way of working to a more agile, mobile digital workplace. With about 2,000 employees and pressure to “do more with less,” the city sought better collaboration, transparency, and faster delivery of cross-team initiatives.
Working with Gfi Portugal, Cascais migrated to Microsoft Azure and Office 365 (including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business, and Microsoft Planner), putting 2,000 staff on cloud services and more than 1,000 employees on Planner to manage roughly 1,750 initiatives. The change boosted productivity and collaboration by about 20 percent, sped up group initiative completion by ~7 percent, improved accountability and onboarding, and gave field and office workers mobile access to current information.
