Carlsberg Group adds security, lowers costs, with Azure migration including SAP

Carlsberg Group, one of the world’s largest breweries, faced a tight deadline to exit its datacenter lease while modernizing a complex SAP landscape spread across 1,070 on-premises servers. With Microsoft Azure, the company needed to move critical payroll, ERP, and production systems to the cloud with minimal downtime and while consolidating legacy infrastructure.

Microsoft Azure helped Carlsberg Group migrate and replatform its SAP and data workloads, including moving to Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Site Recovery, and Azure Large Instances for SAP HANA. The result was about 700 Azure VMs, 1,600 terabytes of data migrated, stronger security and high availability, lower infrastructure burden, and a foundation for new analytics through the Carlsberg Analytics Platform.
