A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Jeju Air, a South Korean medium-sized airline, faced operational friction from more than 60 paper-based manuals that were heavy, hard to update and search, and subject to insecure, ad-hoc distribution. At the same time its sales data lived in heterogeneous formats and legacy systems, requiring time-consuming manual consolidation—limiting agility as the carrier sought to evolve into a broader service provider.
Jeju Air moved its document management to Microsoft Azure using SharePoint (with RMS, Office Web Apps and SQL Server on IaaS) and consolidated sales data on Azure SQL/Data Warehouse (PaaS). The change delivered electronic manuals accessible on PCs and mobile devices with role-based security and always-current content, and centralized, standardized sales data that sped reporting and simplified analytics—improving efficiency and creating a scalable cloud foundation for new customer services.
