A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Dish TV, a pioneer of direct-to-home (DTH) services in India, was running a mix of modern .NET web apps and older RAD-built, database-polled systems that processed transactions sequentially. This fragmented landscape caused duplicated code, high database and CAS (Conditional Access System) load, manual scaling and monitoring, and slowed billing, channel authorization and customer communications—prompting the IT team to seek a robust enterprise integration platform.
Under "Project Jalapeno" Dish TV adopted Microsoft BizTalk Server with MSMQ, .NET and SignalR to create a messaging-based, decoupled, load‑balanced architecture and real-time monitoring dashboard. After migrating eight applications, end-to-end customer service delivery now completes in under 10 seconds for 99% of requests (all within one minute), database CPU utilization fell from ~95% to 80%, CAS traffic dropped about 50%, and satellite bandwidth and overall operational efficiency significantly improved.
