Big-data solution provider adopts new cloud, gains thousands of processing cores

d3VIEW is a data- and workflow-management software provider for simulation-heavy industries such as automotive and aerospace. Faced with terabytes of LS‑DYNA simulation data and the need for massive, burstable compute to run large-scale analyses, d3VIEW needed a way to store, mine, visualize, and share simulation results without the cost and delay of maintaining large on-premises HPC farms.

d3VIEW moved its platform to Microsoft Azure using Linux-based A8/A9 virtual machines, Azure Storage and Virtual Network, and autoscaling to spin up thousands of 8– and 16‑core nodes on demand. The cloud deployment enabled immediate SaaS or enterprise rollouts, parallel data extraction and visualization with Simlytiks, pay-as-you-go access to tens of thousands of cores, faster time-to-market for customers, and simplified sharing and reporting of simulation results.
