Better forecasting, safer driving with Bosch

Robert Bosch GmbH, the global engineering and technology company, built a predictive road-condition service that fuses road weather expertise with cross‑OEM vehicle sensor data to warn infotainment and driver‑assist systems and improve automated driving safety. To scale from a map-based, maintenance‑heavy setup to Europe‑wide and global coverage—handling roughly 860,000 forecasts per time slot—Bosch needed real‑time, granular geospatial aggregations and faster analysis of large time‑series datasets.

Bosch adopted Azure Data Explorer, ingesting data from blob storage and using Kusto for geohash/S2 aggregation and geospatial/time‑series queries; the initial system was set up within a week. The change cut operations costs, made complex analyses accessible to non‑data scientists, and sped development dramatically (tasks that took days now take about 10 minutes), resulting in more accurate forecasts, increased availability of automated driving functions, and a globally scalable, safer driving service.
