Case Study: GEP achieves global reach and greater efficiency with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the GEP Case Study

Azure gives GEP global reach and greater efficiency

GEP, a provider of procurement software and services best known for its SMART by GEP platform, faced limits with its on‑premises datacenters as it grew: scaling required steep infrastructure and labor investments, and regulatory data‑residency rules in other regions blocked market expansion and forced GEP to turn away customers.

GEP rebuilt SMART by GEP on Microsoft Azure using PaaS and services such as Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, Redis, Traffic Manager, CDN, Service Bus and select VMs for integrations. The move delivered regional datacenters for data‑residency and lower latency, built‑in high availability and disaster recovery, faster dev and deployment cycles, and lower operational overhead—allowing GEP to scale globally, improve customer experience, and avoid adding IT staff or major infrastructure spending for years.
