Azure cloud and open source technologies generate 500,000 unique hits for auto show

The Canadian International AutoShow, Canada’s largest consumer auto show with over 300,000 annual visitors and a 42-year history, needed a fresh way to engage audiences and motivate attendance by reflecting how people use technology and sustaining their interest during the event.

Working with Justin Poy Agency and IdeaNotion, organizers deployed IdeaCloud — an open-source platform running on Microsoft Azure (MongoDB, PHP, Java) — to surface social content and scale dynamically during the show. The campaign drove more than 500,000 unique marketplace impressions, proved cost-effective and flexible, and was widely judged a success.
