At 57, Atma Jaya Catholic University Continues Transforming

Atma Jaya Catholic University, a 57-year-old private university in Jakarta with about 10,000–11,000 students and 700 faculty, needed to modernize its internal communication and distance-learning capabilities to meet millennial expectations and reduce rising operational costs. The university also faced internal resistance to change and the challenge of securing and synchronizing data across devices while keeping services accessible to students, staff, and parents.

Atma Jaya implemented Office 365 ProPlus, Azure Active Directory and Skype for Business, and built four Office 365–based apps (Smart Campus, MyAtma, Atma Jaya AR and e-learning) plus OneNote collaboration and an Azure-backed data center. The result was integrated, secure mobile access and synced data across devices, streamlined communication and multi-campus teaching, successful online courses for remote teachers, growing stakeholder acceptance, and a clear path toward a more efficient cloud-based campus.
