Case Study: HOCHTIEF achieves faster, more reliable network performance with Microsoft Azure Peering Services

Artificial intelligence on building sites

Hochtief, a German construction company with 3,200 remote users across 100 locations, struggled with network slowdowns and poor performance during the shift to remote work. Its Microsoft 365 and VPN-based setup, supported by Microsoft Azure-related connectivity, was stretched thin and causing delays for employees accessing collaboration tools like Teams.

Microsoft Azure, working with DE-CIX and ecotel, implemented Azure Peering Services to create a more direct, lower-latency connection to Microsoft services. The result was a major improvement in speed and reliability: Teams connection time from Hochtief headquarters dropped from 53 ms to 5 ms, employee satisfaction increased, connection errors declined, and security improved by keeping traffic off the public internet.
