A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Apollo Hospitals, one of Asia’s largest healthcare groups with 66 hospitals and thousands of clinicians, set out to modernize patient care with platforms like a Personal Health Record (PHR), online booking, telemedicine and analytics. The organization faced a hosting dilemma: on‑premises infrastructure would be costly and inflexible, while cloud options raised concerns about security and data residency—requirements that were non‑negotiable for a healthcare provider.
Apollo chose Microsoft Azure to host its applications, benefiting from Indian datacenters, built‑in security and compliance, and scalable, pay‑as‑you‑grow infrastructure. With Azure (and Power BI) Apollo now runs its group websites and PHR—serving about 6 million patients—while gaining real‑time insights, high reliability (up to 99.9% uptime), and vendor support that enabled rapid expansion without large upfront investment.
