American Council of the Blind scales up with accessible technology

The American Council of the Blind, a nonprofit advocating for people who are blind or visually impaired, was held back by unreliable on-premises servers, data corruption risks, and an aging IT foundation. The organization needed a more secure, efficient, and accessible technology environment, and turned to Microsoft Azure along with Microsoft Office 365 to support its mission.

Microsoft Azure helped ACB modernize and move its infrastructure to the cloud, completing the transition in June 2020. The result was faster performance, no downtime after fine-tuning, and lower costs—about half what it had been paying before, while getting four to five times the value in performance. Azure also supported major growth, including 10,000 content downloads and 108 live sessions during its online annual conference, and helped the nonprofit reach about 55,000 unique monthly visitors.
