A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Saudia Case Study

Airline transforms its marketing operations with open source software and the cloud

SAUDIA Airlines, Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, launched a companywide technology transformation in 2016 to boost innovation and customer service by 2020. The challenge was to build a modern marketing operations platform using open source software (OSS) and move systems from on‑premises datacenters to a cloud that fully supports OSS while improving efficiency, scalability, reliability, and total cost of ownership.

Working with partner Indra and Microsoft Azure, SAUDIA implemented a cloud-based marketing engine using Azure IaaS with Windows Server, SQL Server, Apache, and Linux. The solution simplified OSS integration, reduced capital expenses, and gave marketing teams the autonomy to create and run campaigns quickly; faster data processing enabled personalized offers, customer tracking, and clear ROI metrics, freeing IT budget for growth initiatives and positioning the airline to expand CRM and targeted marketing for increased revenue.
