A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is a small Louisiana nonprofit that serves 115 partner agencies across 11 parishes. In August 2016 a catastrophic flood submerged its offices, warehouses, trucks and on‑premises IT—destroying documents, inventory records and servers and crippling relief operations at a time of urgent need.
With a Microsoft Philanthropies grant the food bank moved to Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365, restoring operations within days. Cloud-based inventory and a custom Dynamics app enabled real‑time data from partners, faster, more accurate distributions, a two‑thirds cut in IT costs (funding an estimated 112,000 more meals), and far greater resilience and responsiveness for future disasters.
