A special offer for appreciative consumers! Using the tablet POS to provide customers with a new shopping experience

Shinsegae, one of Korea’s largest retailers (operator of SHINSEGAE Centum City and Emart), faced a major POS modernization challenge: replace aging, fragmented terminals with a secure, maintainable system that supports IC/NFC payments, real-time CRM and an omni‑channel in‑store experience. The retailer wanted a mobile, sales‑assistant‑centric solution that would unify development and improve security and maintenance — after evaluating platforms, Shinsegae chose Windows for its superior security, compatibility and single‑code strategy.

Shinsegae rolled out a tablet‑based POS program (10,000 units planned; 4,000 in the first phase) using Windows, .NET and C# to implement a “One Code, One Windows” universal app approach across 5" and 10" devices. The result: a secure, manageable platform that bridges online and offline shopping, empowers sales staff to present personalized offers and place orders on the spot, integrates with the Shinsegae app and CRM in real time, and has delivered positive store‑level feedback and faster omni‑channel adoption.
