A Microsoft Azure Case Study
University of Phayao, a public Thai university serving about 20,300 students and 1,500 staff, needed to modernize its IT to meet Thailand’s Digital Economy goals and the Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education. The university faced limitations in on‑premises storage and virtual machine capacity and required more reliable, scalable systems to support registration, staff and student email, learning management and live broadcast classes while improving administrative and instructional productivity.
Working with partner Lannacom, the university migrated data and services to Microsoft Azure—using Azure VMs, databases and Windows Server Datacenter—to host its LMS, UP Mail, archiving and live-class systems. The move delivered greater storage and compute capacity, higher availability (99.95% SLA), enterprise security and flexibility, measurable productivity gains, cost-efficiency and a planned disaster-recovery capability to keep services resilient.
