A Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics Case Study

Preview of the Toyota Industries Corporation Case Study

Toyota builds company-wide, standardized IoT platform to promote data utilization with Edge AI

Toyota Industries Corporation, a global leader in manufacturing, wanted a company-wide IoT platform to collect, store, analyze, and feed back factory data quickly and consistently across sites. Using Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics as part of its broader Azure-based stack, the company set out to standardize its edge-to-cloud data environment and improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and responsiveness through AI and IoT.

Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics helped Toyota Industries build GAUDI, a three-layer IoT architecture spanning edge, fog, and cloud, with Azure IoT Edge, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure DevOps supporting reusable software modules and AI-driven parameter optimization. The solution enabled the company to detect likely defects from sensor data, recommend optimal equipment settings, and eventually automate those recommendations fully by March 2021, reducing manual quality checks and shortening development time through reusable modules.
