Case Study: Teijin Limited streamlines hospital inventory management with Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics

A Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics Case Study

Preview of the Teijin Limited Case Study

Teijin ‘cloudifies’ its RFID-based management inventory system, streamlining hospital operations and optimizing medical costs with Azure

Teijin Limited, a large Japan-based chemicals and agrochemicals company, needed a better way to manage its RFID-based inventory system after moving from on-premises deployments to a scalable cloud service. Using Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics alongside Azure IoT Hub, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure App Service, Teijin sought to improve post-deployment support, data visibility, and operational efficiency for its Recopick inventory management solution.

Microsoft Azure enabled Teijin to cloudify Recopick and deploy it first at Kitano Hospital, where RFID readers and A4 sheet readers send usage data through Azure for processing and storage. The solution helped the hospital streamline internal logistics, visualize supplies usage in real time, and dramatically cut the workload of SPD vendors; the system was expected to manage about 2,000 items per day and 320,000 items overall, while also supporting future management accounting and cost optimization.
