Global manufacturer optimizes operational efficiency at the factory floor with real-time analytics

ALPLA, a global packaging manufacturer, wanted to give employees better, real-time insight into production processes across its factory floor. As sensor, machine, ERP, and other operational data volumes grew beyond the limits of its traditional database approach, ALPLA turned to Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics and its Azure-based IoT stack to support scalable, data-driven decisions.

Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics, working with Crate.io’s Crate Analytics Platform on Azure, helped ALPLA collect and analyze production data in real time and push actionable alerts to mobile devices and live dashboards. The solution is now live on 190 production lines across 18 U.S. facilities, improving quality and productivity by helping operators detect and solve issues faster, reducing rework and scrapped product, and saving time and cost.
