A Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics Case Study
SERAKU Co., Ltd., a Japanese digital transformation and IT solutions company, wanted to help farmers manage increasingly complex agriculture operations with a simple IoT-based service. Its Midori Cloud platform needed to handle frequent image uploads and large volumes of sensor data, but the company struggled with storage growth and the need for a more scalable, stable public cloud approach. Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics, along with Azure IoT Hub, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure storage-based cloud services, was central to the solution.
Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics helped Seraku process streaming agricultural data reliably and even reprocess up to seven days of data to avoid loss after outages, while Azure Cosmos DB supported flexible high-speed data handling. By moving to Azure PaaS, SERAKU Co., Ltd. improved stability and scalability, reduced maintenance needs, and kept operations running with just one person for the front end and one for the back end. The solution has been deployed across Japan, with over a year of uninterrupted service reported and a real-world impact that helped one farmer avoid an estimated 30-million-yen loss.
