A Microsoft Azure CDN Case Study

Training company takes on the world from the cloud

Lobster Ink, a Geneva‑based hospitality training company that streams high‑definition video lessons to staff in 120 countries, needed a scalable, secure platform to replace a fragmented AWS setup that struggled with storage, automated streaming, and enterprise requirements. To solve these challenges the company moved to Microsoft Azure CDN and other Azure PaaS services (including Azure Media Services and Azure App Service) to centralize media encoding, delivery, and development under one vendor.

Using Microsoft Azure CDN and Azure Media Services, Lobster Ink rewrote its platform on ASP.NET and Azure App Service, adopted Azure SQL and Blob Storage, and leveraged the CDN for global, device‑agnostic streaming. The move enabled rapid global expansion (from 22 to 120 countries and from 2 to 16 languages), supports more than 10,000 customers and 100,000 learners per month with a library of over 10,000 lessons, lowered maintenance costs, improved security and multi‑tenancy for enterprise clients, and sped feature delivery.
