A Microlise Case Study
Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s largest food retailers and owner of Argos, has partnered with Microlise since 2017 to optimise transport for a fleet of more than 2,000 heavy goods vehicles and 3,000 trailers serving 1,800+ locations. After acquiring Argos, Sainsbury’s faced the challenge of integrating Argos’ transport system—unifying data from two different Microlise systems, simplifying mapping for over 300 shared location IDs, and coordinating contract management to achieve full fleet visibility and streamlined operations.
Microlise consolidated the platforms by migrating Argos depots onto Sainsbury’s existing Microlise system in staged rollouts, upgrading technology with Remote Tachograph Download and DriveTab devices, and working closely with Sainsbury’s Tech and Business teams to define a single Group Transport workflow. The result was streamlined driver coaching and safety settings, a single mobile app with improved ETAs for better store labour planning, enhanced reporting and journey management, and consolidated contracts that produced significant cost savings and operational synergies—supported by Microlise’s Customer Success team and data-driven Driver Excellence programme.
