A Fresh Approach to Driver Performance Management

Roberts Bakery, a longstanding UK bakery delivering to more than 2,000 customers with a 50–60 vehicle fleet, faced the challenge of getting fresh, short‑shelf‑life products to shelves quickly and reliably while managing a large, varied driver pool. To gain real‑time oversight and improve driver performance, Roberts Bakery worked with Microlise and deployed Fleet Performance, Journey Management and the Microlise Driver Performance Management (DPM) app.

Microlise implemented A–G fleet ratings, league tables and the DPM smartphone app for 160+ drivers, alongside Journey Management and Remote Digital Tachograph Download. As a result, Roberts Bakery recorded a 44% reduction in engine idling (around 5,000 litres of fuel saved per year), fewer road traffic accidents, and improved driver engagement and safer driving culture—outcomes the company says cover the cost of the Microlise subscription.
