The Nevada DOT faced the challenge of addressing historic safety risks for vulnerable road users (VRUs) in high-traffic zones across the state. Michelin integrated the DOT's crash data with billions of data points from driving behavior to create a clear map of VRU risk hotspots across Nevada. The solution provided detailed analysis of 10 focus areas, identifying specific high-risk locations and contributing factors like speeding. As a result, the Nevada DOT gained the objective data needed to efficiently allocate safety funding, justify investments, and recommend targeted mitigations.
