Road Science, a Downer company and leader in pavement technology across New Zealand, faced the challenge of replacing a historic paper-based maintenance system with a robust, easy-to-use preventative maintenance program. They worked with MEX, adopting the MEX platform—notably the MEX Mobile app, Regions module and the inspections work order format—to support multiple sites and enable real-time mobile data capture.

MEX implemented a single database with site Regions, the inspections format and mobile-enabled workflows, plus bulk data upload to build a logical asset tree. As a result, Road Science has gone completely paperless, reduced the time spent logging, notifying and following up on work, can add photos and comments in real time, and now use the standard “tick and flick” work order for under 5% of preventative maintenance tasks—delivering immediate productivity gains and ongoing cost savings. MEX also incorporated beta-test feedback to streamline inspections functionality.
