Landcare Research - Customer Case Study

Landcare Research is a New Zealand Crown research institute that must tightly control temperature and humidity across multiple sites to emulate climates and preserve soil, plant and DNA samples. Because HVAC reliability is critical and unscheduled failures can cost tens of thousands in lost samples and research time, Landcare Research implemented MEX (MEX Maintenance Software) to monitor and manage its HVAC assets and maintenance activities.

MEX supplied an Asset Register, Readings, Inspections, Work Orders and Preventative Maintenance workflows that let the team log readings, schedule tasks and capture maintenance costs. Using MEX, Landcare Research reduced equipment failures and unplanned maintenance, identified repeat issues and trends, lowered maintenance expenditure and became more proactive in preventing downtime—helping keep equipment running effectively and research operations ongoing.
