Extra Space Storage, the second-largest U.S. self-storage operator with more than 2,000 properties, faced a legacy tangle of thousands of POTS lines as carriers decommissioned copper service and raised rates. To modernize quickly, Extra Space Storage — with IT consultant Elite Telecom — turned to MetTel to replace POTS with a managed digital voice solution (MetTel’s POTS Transformation and cloud-based digital voice service).

MetTel surveyed roughly 1,500 locations, identified and removed unused lines to save costs, and deployed over 500 MetTel POTS Transformation devices as part of a customized, fully managed rollout.
