Case Study: a large glass company achieves €250,000 in annual energy savings with METRON

A METRON Case Study

Preview of the Large Glass Company Case Study

Glass industry energy savings of €250,000 per year thanks to furnace optimization

The customer is a large glass company, a manufacturer of glass vials for the pharmaceutical industry in France, which faced a high energy bill of €7.9 million per year from its melting furnaces. With a low level of digitization, the company needed a more detailed understanding of its processes to optimize consumption without affecting production quality. It engaged METRON and its digital energy management platform, METRON-EVA®, to address this challenge.

METRON implemented its platform to collect and analyze millions of data points, modeling the furnaces to understand over 150 influencing variables. The solution provided advanced monitoring and daily optimization recommendations for furnace adjustments, such as the percentage of cullet used. This allowed the large glass company to save €250,000 annually, reduce energy consumption by 10.2 GWh, and cut CO2 emissions by 1,973 tons per year, all while improving process control.
