How Jukin Media Leverages Metricly for Performance and Capacity Monitoring

Jukin Media, a global entertainment company behind brands like FailArmy and People Are Awesome, needed better performance monitoring across a complex application stack. The team, led by CTO Jerry Boonstra, was looking for an alternative and complement to existing tools, with broad support for open source agents and coverage across Linux, Java, databases, caching, and AWS infrastructure. Metricly’s performance monitoring and alerting capabilities were evaluated to help manage hundreds of metrics without relying on static thresholds.

Metricly implemented adaptive monitoring for Jukin Media using open source agent technologies and real-time analytics to detect anomalies in performance data and send alerts to Slack. The solution also added capacity utilization reporting and AWS cost analysis, helping Jukin Media identify hot spots, stranded capacity, and high-cost EC2 instances with low utilization. As a result, Metricly helped the DevOps team stay ahead of issues, improve visibility across the stack, and manage cloud spending more efficiently.
