Budge - Customer Case Study

Budge, a personal finance app for millennials, faced the challenge of helping users manage debt without requiring them to share sensitive login credentials, a common hurdle in financial apps. Their goal was to provide a consolidated view of liabilities and enable in-app payments to increase user success. To accomplish this, they partnered with Method and leveraged its Connect, Data, and Pay products to access user-permissioned financial data and payment capabilities.

By implementing Method's API solutions, Budge gained the ability to securely onboard users and pull their real-time debt data using only consent, not credentials. This provided a frictionless experience and enabled in-app payments. The solution had a significant impact: Budge's pilot project was a success, onboarding hundreds of users, linking thousands of accounts, and achieving an exceptional NPS of 84. Users entrusted over $15 million of debt to the platform, with Method providing the critical infrastructure that made it possible.
