Weather Data Helps Toyota Optimize Energy Consumption at Its Plants in Europe

Toyota Motor Europe needed a better way to manage energy consumption across its European assembly plants and factories, where heating, cooling, and renewable energy planning are all heavily influenced by weather conditions. To support its sustainability goals under the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, Toyota turned to Meteomatics and its Weather API to gain more reliable access to weather data for operational planning.

Meteomatics provided Toyota with a single, unified weather data source delivering real-time and historical parameters such as temperature, humidity, and wind speed every 15 minutes via API. This helped Toyota improve energy system planning, set better consumption targets, and estimate future energy and cost savings more accurately, while also supporting reductions in energy use and CO2 emissions.
