Meteomatics Supports Anglian Water to Get River Positive

Anglian Water, the largest water and water recycling company in England and Wales by geographic area, needed a simpler way to manage multiple weather data sources for its operations. With weather conditions affecting key infrastructure and storm overflow compliance, the company wanted accurate, easy-to-integrate forecasts and historical data to support decision-making and reduce discrepancies across providers. Meteomatics’ Weather API was adopted as the primary weather data source.

Meteomatics helped Anglian Water combine precipitation and other weather data with storm overflow and storm-water regulator data to better predict infrastructure risks, investigate potential compliance breaches, and confirm when discharges were caused by rainfall or snowmelt. The result was improved tactical decision-making, significant time savings, and faster investigations; around 200 employees can now access weather data on demand, and Anglian Water reports that having all the information in one place has significantly reduced the time taken to assess potential breaches.
